UCLA’s championship duo traded buckets for Box Combos – serving customers from the front counter and drive-thru – at Cane’s on Sunset and Highland
LOS ANGELES – Fresh off leading UCLA to its first-ever NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship, superstars Lauren Betts and Kiki Rice brought the celebration to fans today with a special Raising Cane’s “shift” in Hollywood.
Earlier this morning, Betts and Rice clocked in at Raising Cane’s located at 6800 Sunset Blvd., serving Customers Craveable Chicken Finger Meals from the front counter and Drive-Thru, shooting content for the Brand and sharing their championship energy with a crowd of fans.
Cane’s selected lucky Customers in line to be served by the duo at the counter, as Betts and Rice also took time to hype up the crowd and celebrate the milestone moment with Caniacs.
Their appearance marked a celebration of a historic breakthrough for UCLA Women’s Basketball, as the Bruins captured their first national title after years of tournament runs that fell just short.
Following a dominant 37-1 season capped by a commanding 79-51 championship win over South Carolina, Betts and Rice cemented themselves as two of the best players in the country and projected top picks in this Monday’s WNBA Draft.
“That moment was the best moment in my life,” said Rice when talking about winning the national championship. “That’s what we came here to do – to achieve that goal and finish out our college career. There hasn’t been a ton of time to relax with the draft coming up, just getting back into it.”
“I’m grateful for all of the people who have put in work to create opportunities for people like me and Kiki,” said Betts when describing what it feels like to be part of the top five draft picks. “We’re making our dreams come true. It’s unbelievable. If my younger self could see me now, they’d be really proud.”
In talking about the growth of women’s basketball, Rice stated “It’s been really great to see the growth after all these years. People are here and engaged and interested in our stories. It’s really cool to have opportunities like this one at Raising Cane’s at a time when women’s sports is growing.”
Betts, the Final Four Most Outstanding Player, Big Ten Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, anchored the Bruins with elite interior dominance, while Rice led with poise and playmaking as one of the nation’s top guards—powering one of the most complete championship runs in program history.
