The city celebrates Compton Fest 2024

Compton, CA – On Saturday, Aug. 24, the inaugural Compton Fest brought together the city’s residents along with attendees from across Los Angeles and beyond for a day of celebration, pride and innovation.

Produced by Divine Media Group in collaboration with the City of Compton’s Mayor’s Office, the event, themed “Restoring the Pride of Compton,” showcased the city’s rich cultural heritage and significant contributions to the world.

“Compton Fest 2024 is more than just an event—it’s a testament to the resilience, creativity, and unity of our community,” said Compton Mayor Emma Sharif. “Together, we are restoring the pride of Compton and showing the world what we can achieve.”

Six-time NBA All-Star DeMar DeRozan received the Icon Award, Hip Hop legend YoYo was honored with the Legend Award, and media executive Fuzzy West was recognized with the Impact Award.

“Compton Fest 2024 is a dream realized,” said DeMira Pierre, Founder of Divine Media Group. “Our goal was to celebrate Compton’s talent and contributions to the world, while bringing the community together in a meaningful way. Today, that vision came to life, and this is just the beginning of what we can achieve together.”

A key highlight of the event was Google’s Code Next STEM labs, the Compton Country Club virtual golf activation and the Plug In America electric car drive experience, AIDS Healthcare Foundation Wellness Row and the Delete The Divide laptop giveaway.
