AltaMed Health Services opens elderly care facility in Compton

The new facility is the city’s first Alternative Care Setting (ACS) and features several of the care services offered at AltaMed PACE Centers

AltaMed Health Services has opened its first Alternative Care Setting (ACS) to provide participants enrolled in their Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) an additional place for them to access required services designated by their interdisciplinary care team closer to home.

The almost 10,000-square-foot facility, located at 2616 E. Alondra Blvd., is the first PACE location in Compton and will serve up to 150 AltaMed PACE participants who live in the area. A community grand opening celebration with food, entertainment, raffle prizes, and facility tours took place on Saturday, Dec. 9.

In addition to having on-site skilled nursing care by a team of specialists highly trained and experienced in working with seniors, the new facility will feature a spacious day floor for recreational and social activities, exercise classes, arts and crafts, meals and nutrition counseling, cultural celebrations, and educational programs.

Participants will also have access to an on-site physical and occupational room where they can receive rehabilitation therapies to recover and rebuild their functionality. Participants will continue to receive their primary medical care services at their home center.

AltaMed is recognized as a leader in senior health services and has become one of the nation’s largest PACE providers, serving almost 4,700 participants across its 11 centers located throughout Los Angeles and Orange Counties. In the coming months, AltaMed PACE will open four additional ACS facilities in the Southeast Los Angeles area, bringing its number of total locations to 16.

For more than 25 years, AltaMed PACE has helped participants avoid nursing homes and instead, receive the care and services they need to stay safe, comfortable, and healthy in their own home.

Each AltaMed PACE participant has a dedicated interdisciplinary care team, a group of staff and specialists who provide personalized health care. Those who enroll in the program receive a comprehensive care plan designed to address their health needs and reduce their risk factors. The PACE Program offers care coordination, transportation, social services, meals, and social activities, all in a positive, comfortable environment.
